AN ACADEMY GRADUATE ASKED IF HE COULD SHARE THIS STORY WITH ST MARY’S ANNAOLIS STUDENTS. A GROUP GATHERED AND HE SPOKE.
WHILE HE WAS STATIONED IN AFGHANISTAN HE WAS IN CHARGE OF A CONVOY OF TANKS. THEY CAME UNDER HEAVY ENEMY FIRE AND THE FIRST TANK WAS HIT AND BECAME COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. (HIS BEST FRIEND WAS IN THAT TANK.) WHEN THE BATTLE WAS OVER HE RACED UP TO HELP. TO HIS AMAZEMENT ONE BY ONE EVERY MEMBER OF THE CREW CLIMBED OUT WITHOUT A SCRATCH. THIS WAS THE GROUP HE PRAYED THE ROSARY WITH EVERY NIGHT. HE ALSO SAID THEY HAD NO MORE DEATHS AFTER THAT FOR FIVE MONTHS.
REMEMBER PADRE PIO CALLS THE ROSARY THE WEAPON NOT MERELY A DEVOTION. IT HAS PROVED ITSELF.
This is an answer from a long time rosary maker when asked why he makes so many Combat Ranger Rosaries. He was a young Marine, age 18, who was wounded in the war in Korea. Now 80 plus years old he just came back from a three month vacation in Florida with 2500 more rosaries! His goal was to make 50 a day! He had already made many thousands over these past 13 years.
“Knowing what it is like to be so scared you can’t even think, I make rosaries to send to the troops because if it will help them get through the bad times I’ll feel like I have helped them. It helps me to remember, when I string the beads, the Marines I served with especially ones who did not make it back!”
As you pray for our soldiers remember the many veterans, some still in VA hospitals. We have a number of veterans who make rosaries every week. Trust in Mary, Our Mother and Queen, to watch over us all.
Hope you will have a very happy and blessed Easter!!!
